1. Does the museum charge admission?

There is no admission to come to the museum, but donations are gratefully accepted.

2. How do I find the museum?

From the Los Angeles area: Travel east on Interstate 10. Take the State Route 62 exit; travel north and east on State Route 62 for approx. 20 miles to Yucca Valley. Turn north on Dumosa Avenue (first road on left after the Super 8 Motel).

From Indio/Low Desert: Travel West on Interstate 10. Take the State Route 62 exit; travel north and east on State Route 62 for approx. 20 miles to Yucca Valley. Turn north on Dumosa Avenue (first road on left after the Super 8 Motel).

From Victorville/High Desert: Travel east on Hwy 18 to Lucerne Valley; continue east on State Route 247 until it intersects with State Route 62 (Twentynine Palms Hwy) in Yucca Valley. Turn right on State Route 62 and right again on Dumosa Avenue (first road on right after Food 4 Less shopping center).

3. Can I bring my scout troop or home-school class to the museum?

Yes, the museum welcomes groups and offers a variety of programs and educational opportunities. For the best museum experience, we recommend that you to make reservations ahead of time for group visits.

4. Can I bring a baby bird or small animal to the museum?

Sorry, but the museum is not a licensed wildlife rehab facility and can not accept any wildlife in need of nursing or veterinary care.

5. Is the museum interested in buying my snake or lizard?

All the animals in the museum are rehabbed animals and non-releasable. They were given to the museum by rehab facilities to have a permanent home. The museum will not buy any wildlife or accept any animals caught in the wild.

6. Can somebody at the museum identify the insect I found?

Yes, as long as the insect is in good enough shape. If you find an interesting insect, put it in a little canister or zip lock bag and keep it in the freezer until you can bring it to the museum for identification. Or put it in a glass jar with a cotton ball dipped in nail polish remover. The nail polish remover will kill the insect and will preserve it until you can bring it to the museum.
