The Town of Yucca Valley has announced the launch of a pre-season lap swimming program at the Yucca Valley High School pool beginning on Saturday, May 7th.¬† The hour-long drop-in sessions will be held each Saturday at 9:00 am and 10:00 am.¬† The lap swim fee is $2 per hour. (more…)

The game is kickball – yes, kickball, game of choice for grade school superstars. For those whose memories don\’t go back further than their first crush, kickball is like baseball except a big, rubber ball is kicked into play. Runners can be pegged with the ball for an out.¬† ¬†The sport has caught on with recreation departments across the nation and is among the Grubstake Days tournaments offered this year by the Town of Yucca Valley.¬† Advanced athletic skills are not necessary to master the basics.¬† Players kick, catch and throw a big ball and run the bases. The Town of Yucca Valley Public Works Division has announced an anticipated traffic impact caused by road construction at the new Rite Aid site on Warren Vista Avenue and State Route 62. Road improvements at the new Warren Vista Shopping Center are scheduled to begin Monday, April 25, 2011.
North and southbound traffic on Warren Vista, as well as traffic turning south from SR62 on to Warren Vista, and traffic turning north from Yucca Trail will be affected. Warren Vista will be closed from SR62 to Yucca Trail to all traffic Monday thru Friday during the hours from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in this location.
The road construction work is expected to be completed by May 6, 2011.
Kids ages 9 to 14 (age as of 12/31/11) ¬†are invited to participate in the first stage of a nationwide youth track and field competition as the Town of Yucca Valley hosts its fifth annual Hershey\’s Track & Field Games on Saturday, May 7th at the Yucca Valley High School stadium. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each event will advance to the state finals in San Bernardino on June 4th and have an opportunity to advance to the national competition in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
