A new session of the Town of Yucca Valley’s Kinder Gym and Beginning & Intermediate Gymnastics classes will begin Monday, September 12th, at the Yucca Valley Community Center. Gymnastics turns movement into learning while helping children develop coordination, listening skills and confidence. Instructor Heather Kaczmarczyk-Huntoon was a gymnast for 15 years and has been a gymnastics instructor for seven years.
Kinder Gym is open to children 3 to 5 years of age. This class teaches the beginning fundamentals of gymnastics. Participants will learn coordination, strength & flexibility. There is a $25.00 fee for the four week session. Kinder Gym classes are from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Beginning Gymnastics is for children 6 years and up. Children enrolled in this class will learn the basics of floor gymnastics, such as coordination skills and the rudiments of tumbling, cartwheels, one-handed cartwheels, handstands and back and front rolls. The fee for this four week session is $35.00; classes are from 4:00 to 4:55 p.m.
The Intermediate Gymnastic class builds upon moves and techniques that were learned in the Beginning Gymnastics class. Instructor will teach advanced tumbling, front hand springs, round offs, aerials, toe touches, with a strong emphasis on back handsprings. Intermediate classes are from 5:00 to 5:55 p.m. and open to children 10 years and up or in Beginning Gymnastics with instructor approval. The fee for this class is $35.00 for a 4 week session.
Those interested in participating are required to pre-register and pay a fee at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
