Traffic officers serve specifically to reduce the rate of traffic collisions by combining high visibility patrol with strict enforcement of vehicle code violations. To help educate the residents on traffic flow and speed, traffic officers work closely with the Citizens on Patrol unit in planning locations for the Town’s highly visible radar trailer.
Yucca Valley’s Off-Highway Vehicle Enforcement and Education Program use dual-sport motorcycles and specially trained officers to address citizen’s concerns regarding off-highway vehicle violations. The team has been very successful in reducing the number of off-road vehicle complaints received within the town limits.
Citizen on Patrol Unit – Supplementing the Town’s uniformed patrol officers is a highly dedicated group of citizen volunteers, trained residents who donate thousands of volunteer hours each year. They patrol the neighborhoods acting as an extra set of eyes and ears for the Town’s patrol officers. They also assist with crowd control, traffic control, community events and many other duties.
