Citizen Equestrian Patrol
Are citizen patrol volunteers who patrol on horseback. You must have
access to a horse and trailer, complete the same requirements as citizen
patrol and successfully complete a horse and rider skills
evaluation.

Explorer Scouts
A division of Boy Scouts of America, the Explorer Scouts are young adults
between the ages of 14 and 21 who have a strong desire to go into law
enforcement as a career. As an Explorer Scout, you ride with patrol deputies
and learn about becoming a peace officer, assist with traffic control, attend
field trips to the crime lab, aviation, bombs and arson, training range and
attend monthly training/business meetings.

Qualifications:

Be at least 14 years old, in high school, and not older than 21

Must maintain a C average
|

No serious arrests or convictions
|

Successfully complete an oral interview, background investigation and
conference with your parents (if under 18)

Peace Officer Reserves
Reserves are sworn peace officers who patrol Yucca Valley as a regular deputy.
Duties also include security for special events, crowd and traffic control,
prisoner transport, stake outs, narcotics enforcement and public presentations.
Members are volunteers who attend a monthly business meeting and quarterly range
qualifications. To become a sworn peace officer reserve deputy,
you must:

High school graduate or GED certificate

Have a valid drivers license

Pass an oral interview
|

Physical agility test
|
| |
Medical examination (including a treadmill and drug test)

Intensive background investigation

Polygraph exam and Psychological evaluation
|
| |
Must be enrolled in a Level II P.O.S.T. academy or possess either a Level II
or Level I P.O.S.T. certificate
