Important Documents:
When disaster strikes, it can wipe out all evidence that you exist.
If you survive, youll still have a hard time proving it without
copies of these:
Insurance policies, will, contracts, deeds, stocks and bonds
Savings and checking account numbers
Credit card account numbers and companies
Inventory of valuable household goods, important telephone numbers
Passports, social security cards, immunization records
Family records (birth, marriage, death certificates)
Safe Storage:
Store the kit in a safe, cool, dry and convenient place known to all
in your house. A plastic garbage can with a tight lid is a good solution
for the basics. Be realistic. Its not all going to fit in one place.
Keep a smaller version of your Disaster Supply Kit in the trunk of your
car.
Seal items, or groups of items, in waterproof and
airtight plastic bags.
Change the water supply every six months so it
stays fresh.
Rotate the food every six months.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the proper procedure for storing
prescription medications.
Replace your batteries BEFORE they expire.
